Our ground floor provision includes an inspiring outdoor space which provides opportunity for children to increase their ability to balance, jump, climb, throw, run and skip. Playing outdoors changes a child’s environment for learning so they are not always in the same room.

We have daily outdoor experiences

We learn to care for plants and animals

Outdoors we develop our fine and gross motor skills

Being outdoors supports our imagination and social skills

We take part in carefully planned outdoor experiences

We love exploring the world around us

We develop our mathematical and literacy skills whilst outdoors

Research has proven that child-led play actually helps brain development, meaning they can retain information more easily; it also helps children develop muscle strength and gain self confidence.

Forest School Sessions

We engage in weekly Forest School sessions at Callister Gardens where we have our very own plot. Here we engage in nature based activities that support both our life skills and involvement in the wider community. Through these sessions children develop an understanding of nature and the outdoors and use all senses to engage in nature based activities. Forest School supports children to learn how to look after the environment and gain a greater knowledge of nature.
