How will my child be supported?
All children at our nursery are provided with Quality First Teaching by qualified member of staff. Our key person approach involves each key person planning around their child’s individual needs. If the key person or SENCO feels your child requires support beyond high quality provision then, with your input, an additional support plan will be put in place and arrangement made to ensure this is put into practice with your child. All provision put in place is reviewed regularly to ensure children are receiving the correct level of support.
How will the curriculum be matched to my child's needs?
All children are different and our highly trained staff take this into consideration when planning for their children. When planning staff use children’s assessments, observations and tracking to ensure the curriculum meets the needs of all. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum as a guide for children’s development, however, we take into account the individual child’s progress and plan for and support each child at their own pace.
How can I support my child's development?
Children’s progress is shared with the parents throughout the year during parents meetings and daily conversations and completed daily diaries. If you ever feel you need a parents meeting sooner than planned just ask your child’s key person to arrange this. Children’s learning journals and tracking information can be viewed by the parents at any time. You will always be involved within the planning and reviewing of your child’s learning and development to ensure it is agreed by all. Within your child’s additional support plan there is a section that will outline any activities that could be carried out at home to support your child’s progress.
What training do staff have?
Our manager is a qualified teacher and early years professional who also has a Masters in SEN. Staff attend training courses regularly, in line with the needs of their current key group. Examples of training that our staff have completed are: speech and language, hearing impairments, team teach (behaviour), autism support, makaton. Each member of our team has a current first aid and safeguarding certificate.
The SENCO also provides in house training for staff to ensure high quality teaching
How will you support my child with transitions?
We invite new children to attend settling in sessions before starting the nursery. We do not have a limit on how many your child has as it is assessed on how well your child is settling in. Children who are due to start school will be supported in a sensitive way. We begin to introduce the children to their new uniform and invite reception teachers in to visit the children before they start at school. Your child’s key person and the SENCO will pass on all the relevant information the new setting will require to support your child and also have a meeting with them in deemed necessary.
Do you work with other professionals?

We work with speech therapists, physiotherapists, social and communication team, school readiness, abbott nurses, pediatricians, neurologists and many other professionals.
